An over-excited teen who accidentally shot a girl twerking for him at a party with a handgun has been seized by police.

Suspect Maurqice Thomas, 18, had been at a boozy party in Cocoa, Florida State, USA, when he lost control as a woman started sexy dancing for him, report local media.

According to multiple eyewitnesses, the gun had gone off accidentally as the teenager got carried away seeing the young woman dancing in front of him at the late-night bash.

Police and emergency services were called at about 10:25pm on 27th November as the girl was taken to hospital where she was operated on and her condition is stable.

She told police that she had seen the teen messing around with the gun with another partygoer and she had told him to stop.

Later when she spotted him again with the gun, she tried moving away and then was shot in the back.

Astonishingly, as she was recovering from surgery, she received an Instagram message from him two days later, saying: “I am truly sorry!! That sh** was never intended to happen, especially to you if there’s any way I can get a second chance and talk to you on the phone can you please lmk and send your number.”

However, he is unlikely to be free for a date any time soon.

He is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, culpable negligence inflicting harm, improper use of a firearm and tampering in misdemeanour proceedings.

He was taken to custody on 20th December at the Brevard County jail with a USD 89,000 (GBP 73,700) bond.
