Two of the woman’s children, aged 13 and 12, were asleep upstairs while her three-year-old daughter was staying with someone else, according to reports.

Local media said that he allegedly stabbed the woman for as yet unknown reasons before fleeing on her motorbike to a nearby bus station.

From there, Gauna reportedly took a bus to the municipality of Quemu Quemu and then to Catrilo, also in La Pampa, where his ex-girlfriend lives.

Reports said that he has children with the unnamed woman, although it was not specified how many.

While at his ex-girlfriend’s house, Gauna told a relative about the incident who subsequently called the cops, according to local media.

At around 8am, the police arrived at the victim’s home and found her dead on the floor. They also found a knife nearby which is reportedly believed to be the murder weapon

Gauna was then arrested in Cantrilo. It was reported that he had been in a relationship with the victim for several months.

According to local media, an autopsy confirmed that Coggiola had been stabbed 20 times, 16 in the neck, twice in the torso and twice in the back.

The investigation continues.
