This is the moment a girl and her grandfather are sent flying when an out-of-control car careers through a crossroads and smashes into their scooter outside a fruit shop.

Dashcam video and CCTV footage from the fruit business run by shopkeeper Ms Li shows the scooter driving off during a green light when the saloon crashes into them from the left-hand side.

The grandad and the young girl sitting in front of him are knocked off the scooter, which is flung onto the pavement as the car crashes to a stop inside the shop in Meizhou’s Meixian District in South China’s Guangdong Province.

The video from the afternoon of 25th June shows witnesses rushing to tend to the bleeding and injured tot while her grandad ends up lying in the wreckage of his scooter and other vehicles.

Fruit seller Ms Li recalled: “I watched as the car flew into my shop. I ran outside and saw the little girl lying on the ground and covered in blood.

“I picked her up and asked who she belonged to, but nobody answered.”

She and a witness drove the young girl, reportedly a toddler but whose age has not been confirmed, to the Yuedong Hospital nearby for treatment.

“I dropped everything, took my phone and handbag, and went with [her],” Ms Li said.

Paramedics treated the injured grandad outside Ms Li’s shop before taking him to the hospital too.

Meizhou’s Traffic Police Detachment say the saloon driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, crashed due to an “operating mistake”.

Both the girl and her grandad are in stable condition as further investigations continue.
