This is the moment a panicking grandmother frantically hits a woman’s car bonnet after her 4WD knocks over a young girl crouching in a car park.

CCTV camera footage dated 7th December shows the moment the four-year-old child, who has not been named, ended up in the woman driver’s blind spot.

The girl’s grandmother was among several dozen local residents socialising on the edge of the car park when the 4WD owner and her passengers prepared to drive off in Dianjiang County in China’s southwestern municipality of Chongqing.

However, she fails to spot the girl squatting down in front of her car and playing by herself just 3 feet away, driving into her head and knocking her over with the front bumper.

The girl ends up in the vehicle’s chassis and just manages to avoid being crushed by one of the wheels when shouting witnesses stop the 4WD.

In the video, the girl’s grandmother can be seen in a state of panic and slapping the car bonnet with her hand while also trying to push the vehicle off her granddaughter.

The woman eventually reverses away, revealing the girl who was fortunately unharmed.

Traffic policeman Li Fujian said: “From the driver’s seat, the girl wasn’t visible and was in her vehicle’s blind spot. That’s what caused the accident.

“There are several blind spots, so drivers should always do a thorough check of their surroundings before driving away.”

Local authorities are still investigating the case.
