Gorgeous Suspected Drug Trafficker Who Survived 20 Bullet Hit Jailed For Ankle Tag Violations

The gorgeous suspected drug trafficker and money launderer who survived a 20-bullet hit unscathed has been jailed for violating the terms of her ankle tag.

Tattooed stunner Camila de Andrade Pires Marodim made international headlines when she survived an apparent attempt on her life on Monday, 31st January.

Dubbed the ‘trafigata’ (‘traffic cutie’) in the Brazilian press, she survived a hail of gunfire when she was arriving home from the shops in the Brazilian city of Curitiba.

She was under house arrest at the time, accused of leading a criminal enterprise linked to drug trafficking and which allegedly laundered some BRL 4 million (GBP 564,000).

None of the reported 20 bullets that were fired in the suspected hit touched her, but the male friend she was with at the time was injured and had to be taken to hospital.

And now Camila has made the headlines again after she was arrested on Thursday, 10th February, for violating the terms of her ankle monitor.

According to the Parana State Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP-PR), she left her monitoring perimeter six times and left the ankle tag without battery on nine occasions.

Judge Sergio Bernardinetti, who authorised the MP-PR’s request for Marodin’s preventive detention, said that “in addition to protecting society…it will serve to protect the investigated person, who will be safe in the appropriate prison, without risk to her life or physical integrity, which, in freedom, demonstrably does not occur”.

At the time of reporting, Camila was being held at the Piraquara Police Station and was awaiting transfer to the Women’s Penitentiary of Parana.

Her lawyer Claudio Dalledone has claimed her ankle tag violations were part of her “frantic quest” to stay alive, given the alleged attempt on her life last month.

Camila is accused of leading a gang of over 30 people, including a teenager, involved in drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms and money laundering.

Her husband Ricardo Marodim was allegedly the gang’s former leader until he was shot dead at the birthday party of one of their children in the city of Pinhais on 7th November.

A few days after the hit on her husband, believed to have been carried out by members of a rival gang, Camila herself was arrested.

She was initially jailed but later placed under house arrest with an ankle monitor as investigations into the alleged criminal enterprise she now ran continued.

Fourteen others were arrested along with her and another person died, allegedly while resisting arrest.

As part of the police operation, Camila’s bank account, which was found to contain BRL 1.3 million (GBP 183,000), was frozen.

Officers also seized 13 properties, 39 weapons, cash, a motorbike and five cars: two Audis, a Honda, a Camaro and a Porsche.

Camila was initially reported to have denied all accusations against her, and this appears to still be the case.
