A vintage Porsche 911 once owned by notorious drug overlord Pablo Escobar has apparently failed to find a buyer at auction.

For Formula 1 star Emerson Fittipaldi, the 911 raced in the 1974 International Race of Champions (IROC) all-star competition before it was eventually acquired by Pablo Escobar.

The car was on sale at Collectioncars.com, which stated that the winning bidder would have to collect the car from Boca Raton, Florida, in the United States.

The auction closed today 8th October, without a successful bid.

The 911 comes with full ownership records which show that it was originally brought into the US and owned by Roger Penske, then sold to the racer John Tunstall who sold it to Escobar in the early 1990s.

Despite changing hands so many times and being shipped from the United States to Colombia and back it is in remarkably good condition.

The auction site claims “There is no known bodywork damage and no evident panel damage or rust.”

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria is the most well-known drug lord in the world, he was the founder and sole leader of the Medellin Cartel and is believed to be the wealthiest criminal in history.

His cartel monopolised the cocaine trade into the United States in the 1980s and 90s resulting in him accumulating an estimated fortune of USD 30 billion (GBP 22.1 billion).

He spent his immense wealth on various countless luxury goods such as fast cars, huge mansions and even exotic animals such as hippos.

One of the most iconic cars he purchased was this 911 which he entered several races with when he had time off from running the Medellin Cartel.
