This is the moment a girl suddenly falls through the ceiling of a supermarket, much to the shock of the cashier below.

The incident was reported in the city of Sichuan, in the Southwestern Chinese province of Sichuan.

The footage shows CCTV images of the supermarket when suddenly the ceiling above collapses and a girl falls through, hitting a shelf with her feet on the way down.

The unnamed girl seemed to get stuck in the ceiling on the way down, which along with the shelf broke her fall and fortunately she was not injured when she finally plunged into the aisle.

The owner of the supermarket said that there used to be a staircase leading to the floor above at the point where the girl fell, but it was removed, and the hole was covered with boards to separate the two floors.

Reportedly, when the girl was playing, she jumped on the floor where the hole had been, and it caved in.

In the video, the cashier just stands in shock and does not even go over to check on the girl who can be seen getting up and walking along the aisle in a daze.

The video has been shared widely on Chinese social media platform Douyin and has received hundreds of comments from netizens.

One person wrote: “The quality of this building is worrying”.

While another commented: “A few days ago, there was also a little boy who fell from upstairs. He also fell into the supermarket. He was younger than this and dropped his shoes. He got up by himself and ran away.”
