Giant Cake Sparks Massive Food Fight

This is the moment a City Hall mayor sparks the Great Brazilian Face Off as the unveiling of a massive cake turns into a huge food fight.

The 62-metre-long cake was supposed to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the founding of Sao Mateus in Maranhao State, on 26th December.

But as officials sliced it up to hand pieces to locals an orderly queue descended into chaos as hungry citizens stormed the barriers.

Footage recorded at the ceremony shows the crowd waiting for their slice of the cream sponge, iced with the city’s crest.

But moments later as the queue becomes a greedy rabble people literally take the cake.

Many are seen trying to claw up as much of the 203-foot cake as they can and stuff it into carrier bags.

One can be seen running off with a whole platter of cake while others scoop up handfuls of leftovers and throw them at each other.

Some can be seen scoffing as much cake as they can before it all disappears.

Social media users were amazed by the video when it was posted on X.

One user ‘tweetforjoao’ said: “The happy mayor’s life. It’s too easy to take votes from these.”

While ‘Brito’ replied: “The vote is the least, he must have enjoyed seeing these poor people fighting over cake and getting dirty.”

And ‘Wannica’ advised: “Just line up, give each person a piece and still have some leftover.”

City Hall officials have not commented on the cake brawl.

A spokesperson would only say: “What a day, our people! In celebration of the 62nd anniversary of Sao Mateus do Maranhao, we delivered 1000 property titles. Through the municipal program Meu Chao Meu Lar, marking a historic milestone in the regularisation of housing.

“In addition, we distributed more than nine hundred basic baskets with panettone to families supported by Social Assistance.

“The new ambulance is now ready to serve the municipal hospital, using its own resources. And for the future, we signed the work order for the renovation of the new municipal hospital.

“And of course, the traditional cutting of the cake, this time measuring 62 metres, couldn’t be missed! Sao Mateus, we’re moving forward!”
