This is the moment a man with suspected links to drug smuggling is executed at close range by gunmen as he waits for his car at a mechanic’s garage.

The incident was filmed by CCTV cameras at the Ecollantas tyre centre at around 6pm in the city of Hermosillo in the north-western Mexican state of Sonora and shared on social media.

The victim, identified as Juan Pablo and who was between 30 and 35 years old, is reportedly linked with a drug trafficking operation, according to local media

He was said to have been waiting for his vehicle to have a tyre changed when armed men entered the premises and shot at him with firearms and assault rifles such as AK-47s.

Reports said that another man was shot during the attack, but is now in a stable condition.

In the footage, the victim appears to be injured as he cowers behind a black SUV and rolls on the floor after seemingly being hit with another bullet.

While lying on the floor, a gunman stands over his body and shoots him from close range.

The shooter then appears to fire at workers before running out.

Another scene shows two men scrambling on the floor as several others run to safety, and at least one of them appears to have been shot.

Once the gunmen fled the scene, workers called the emergency services who cordoned off the building.

The reasons for the attack are not yet known as the investigation gets underway.
