This is the moment a frustrated passenger in Moscow randomly pulls out an axe and smashes a tram window when the door did not open properly at his stop.
The footage shows the passenger walking to the door expecting it to open, but instead it seems faulty and only partially opens and then closes again, and then to the man’s frustration the tram starts to drive off.
As a result he pulled out the axe which he was carrying and smashed the window. It was not revealed why he was carrying an axe in the middle of the Russian capital. But it appeared to be one of several tools that he was carrying as he tried to get onto the tram.
According to local media, the unnamed passenger was not seen by the driver as he tried to enter the back of the 100-million-RUB (1.25-million-GBP) tram.
As the window shutters, several frightened passengers move away from the smashed door, including a young girl who is hurried along by her protective mum.
Still brandishing the axe, the young man then walks towards the front of the tram. It is unclear whether he confronted the driver at that point.
The local authorities have confirmed that they are trying to identify the suspect seen in the CCTV footage.
