A man seen with a four-year-old girl the day before her mutilated body was discovered in an open field has been seized by police.

Little Bokgabo Poo had disappeared with a stranger who had offered her sweets outside the family home in Wattville Township in Ekurhuleni, South Africa on 10th October.

Her mutilated remains were found in pieces the following day.

A 63-year-old woman had noticed human toes sticking out of the ground while she was sweeping her yard.

Cops found Bokgabo’s body cut to pieces 800 metres away from the woman’s house, police Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo told local media.

The youngster’s remains were then identified through DNA testing.

Her father Irvin Ndlovu told local media that the family is “heartbroken” by the tragedy.

Police have now seized a 30-year-old suspect seen luring the youngster away from outside her home.

Lieutenant Colonel Masondo said: “He is reported to be the last person to be seen with missing Bokgabo Poo.”

The suspect was arrested after members of the public assisted local authorities in their search for the man after Bokgabo’s face was reportedly splashed across posters on local taxis.

One angry netizen wrote: “It is so sad that kids can no longer do and enjoy life or being children, playing, riding bikes, etc.”

Another user added: “Children can be so trusting and non-judgmental… For the child to trust this (expletive).”
