Footy Fan Drills Open Granddads Urn To Share Promised Drink For Clubs First Cup Win

This is the moment a Club Atletico Colon fan drills open his grandfather’s urn and pours red wine inside to celebrate the team’s first ever League Cup triumph in Argentina.

After Colon, based in the Argentine city of Santa Fe and founded in 1905, beat Racing Club 3-0 to lift the cup, the unnamed fan celebrated by fulfilling a lifelong promise to his now deceased grandfather.

In the footage, the excited man is seen drilling a hole into his grandfather’s urn and pouring wine inside to celebrate their club’s historic triumph.

He said that he bought the bottle of wine with his grandfather back in 2005 during the club’s centenary and they promised to drink it together when Colon won their first ever Copa de la Liga Profesional.

The clip was shared on Facebook by the news site Infobae where it has been viewed nearly 500,000 times.

The club sent a reply to another family who scored a viral hit celebrating the final win with their 91-year-old grandfather.

Over 4 million people viewed a clip by ‘NatiAbat’ that was accompanied with the message: “91 years waiting for this moment, this is for our grandfather, thank you Colon. We love you like crazy. We are champions!”

The club wrote back: “Nati, greetings to your grandfather and all your family. Enjoy this championship that unites generations.”
