The home of French football star Karim Benzema was reportedly broken into and robbed while he was playing a match for Real Madrid against Elche.

The incident allegedly took place after the crooks took advantage of the fact that the house was empty during the forward’s league match with Real Madrid against Elche, which ended in a 2-2 draw after Madrid came back from a disastrous 0-2 score in the 82nd minute and in the second minute of additional time.

The burglary is said to have taken place at Benzema’s plush home in the municipality of San Sebastian de los Reyes in the Community of Madrid, when the thieves entered the residence via the private garden.

It is currently unclear what was stolen and how much the stolen goods are worth. The house was reportedly empty at the time of the incident.

It is not the first time that this has happened to a top footballer, with similar incidents occurring over the last few years when footballers have played important matches. It is not even the first time that this has happened to Benzema, whose home was robbed back in 2019.

Other footballers have also suffered similar incidents, including Arturo Vidal, when he played for Inter Milan, and Sadio Mane, when he was playing for Liverpool. Fabinho, who also plays for Liverpool, was also the victim of a burglary.

Benzema, 34, currently plays for Real Madrid as a striker. He is widely considered one of the best current strikers in the world.
