A woman’s dashcam has captured the moment a car bonnet is ripped off by strong winds on a motorway before smashing into her windscreen at high speed and shattering it.

The incident took place in the city of Foshan in South China’s Guangdong Province on 9th August.

Footage of the terrifying accident shows the woman and her passenger both gasping as the large metal bonnet belonging to the Nissan ahead of them flies off the front of the vehicle.

She watches but does not change lanes as the spinning bonnet crashes directly into her windscreen, cracking it and fortunately not pierce the glass.

Her young son can be heard speaking in the back seat as her passenger says: “Quick, pull over!”

As the video ends, the owner of the red Nissan can also be seen slowing down on the motorway.

According to reports, no one was injured during the incident, which is still being investigated by local authorities.

The Nissan owner, who has not been named, is thought to have failed to properly close and lock the bonnet before entering the motorway, allowing it to be forced open by headwinds.
