FISHY TALE: Fish Served To Influencer Still Alive Despite Body Being Made Into Sashimi Slices

This footage shows an actress and her fiance unable to dig into a fish that was still seemingly alive and breathing when it was brought to the table, despite having its body sliced up.

The twitching sashimi was too much for Singaporean actress Xenia Tan, 28, and her fiance, Singaporean actor Shawn Thia, 27, who were on holiday in Japan when they filmed the incident on Saturday, 7th January.

In the footage, Thia can be heard telling his fiancee: “I cannot eat it. It’s a bit too fresh.”

She can be heard giggling before the pair admit that they “feel bad” for the twitching fish, whose tail and head were still moving despite its body having been carved up.

In the end, the pair decide to send the fish back, with the footage then showing a large pool of water containing numerous fish, no doubt the restaurant’s supply.

The head and tail were reportedly removed, and the sashimi was later returned to the couple’s table, according to local media.

It is unclear where exactly in Japan the footage was shot, but netizens were divided over whether the footage showed animal cruelty or simply the freshest fish one can get.

Tan, who boasts over 58,000 followers on TikTok, and Thia, who has over 107,000 followers on TikTok, got engaged after he proposed to the actress in May 2022, revealing the engagement in a TikTok video that notched up nearly half a million views.
