This is the moment two female staff throw stock at knife wielding raiders and then chase them off as the crooks steal cash from the till.

The fleeing criminals can then be seen on a different camera running into an older man on their way out, reportedly the shop owner’s father-in-law, and they cut the elderly man’s face almost severing his eyelid as he tries to stop them from escaping and successfully grabs back the money.

The scenes were recorded by the CCTV cameras of a shop in the urban neighbourhood of Mirijevo in the capital city of Belgrade in central-northern Serbia when the pair of thieves burst into the shop.

In the video, one of the criminals is wearing a balaclava and can be seen threatening a female worker with a knife as his accomplice steals money from the till.

The female worker, who has not been named in reports, backs away but then throws a bottle of what appears to be water towards the armed criminal.

The pair of thieves then scuffle with the female cashier before running away.

The video shows how they ran into the father-in-law of the shop’s owner on their way out and the elderly man tried to stop them from escaping.

The pair push the man backwards and the shop owner, named in reports as Milorad, said they injured the man’s head and cut his face above his eye.

He said the thieves threatened his mother-in-law who was working on the till, adding: “They asked her to empty the till, but it’s a bit complicated to open the till. However, they managed to grab a large amount of the earnings in a short time.

“Once they left the store, they ran into my father-in-law. They started to struggle. They injured his head and made a cut above his eye. His eyelid is nearly hanging off.”

Milorad added that he managed to nevertheless recover most of the money from the pair, around 120,000 RSD (900 GBP).

He added: “Then they started to run. The third suspect was waiting for them in the car. But the police managed to arrest them in nearly 20 minutes. I don’t know who the guys are.”

According to him 10,000-15,000 RSD (75-113 GBP) is missing, but he feels relieved knowing that the injuries his father-in-law suffered are not as serious as they could have been.

The daughter of the injured man, who did not disclose her identity, told Central European News (CEN): “He (her father) was in emergency where his head was stitched up and his eye fixed.

“One of those involved had been in the shop 20 minutes beforehand to observe. It was creepy, nobody was there to help. A murder attempt. Half of his head is stitched, his eyelid is hanging.”

It is not clear whether those arrested have been charged yer.

Netizen ‘Ana’ commented: “Shame on you.”

While ‘Xyz’ added: “Congratulations on the women for their courage.”

And ‘Amela Kuci’ wrote: “Terrifying.”
