The prima ballerina famously sacked from the Bolshoi Ballet company for being too “fat” has shown off her incredible flexibility by doing the splits half-naked in a sauna.
Ballet dancer Anastasia Volochkova, 43, has wowed her army of online followers with this nude snap taken in a sauna.
In the picture, the former Bolshoi Ballet company dancer can be seen performing the splits on the wooden bench of a sauna with just an oak bath broom covering her dignity.
She captioned the image: “New Year’s splits. The measure of my Russian bath. I was 13 when my dad taught the art of bathing. I couldn’t perform the splits for some time in my life. It took years of daily and many hours of work until I did it.”
She added: “My happiness – is the people’s love. For most of you my splits are way more interesting than my achievements. Enjoy. All for you, my dear. Enjoy your bath!
Netizens loved the snap, such as ‘merovinger_blog’ who wrote: “Well done! This like is for the stretching! And for the broom!”
The former dancer was suddenly sacked by the Bolshoi Ballet company in early 2000 for being overweight.
The story made the international headlines and Volochkova was successfully reinstated following a court challenge.
However, although she remained on the company’s payroll, she never danced for them again and soon launched a successful solo career.
