Famous Actor Husband Causes Online Controversy Over Cooking And Eating Wife’s Placenta

A famous Taiwanese-American artist caused online controversy after he shared a clip showing him prepare a bizarre dish for his wife – their newborn baby’s placenta.

Actor and singer Benji Wang, 40, who recently became a father to a baby girl, shocked many Instagram followers with a video where he prepares a meal for his wife Cindy using her placenta and the baby’s umbilical cord.

He reportedly had hospital staff pack the ‘ingredients’ after his wife delivered the baby.

Wang later took it home and decided to cook it after reportedly learning that eating the placenta can provide important micronutrients, increase milk production and even improve one’s skin.

He filmed everything from cleaning the organ, to stir-frying in a pan and later serving it to his wife.

The clip begins with him washing off the blood before peeling away its membrane and chopping it up.

Then, he let the raw placenta boil in water while he cut-up and began frying up some onion, peppers and ginger.

He then threw the pre-boiled placenta in the pan with the fried vegetables and continued cooking them.

Once the bizarre dish was done, he sat down alongside his wife for a taste test.

Astonishingly, the pair seemed to enjoy the dish.

Wang admitted it tasted pretty average and much like pork liver, while his wife reportedly said she really liked it.

He shared the video on his Instagram with the caption: “It is very hard for a mother to give birth to a child. I heard that the best body to replenish the body is the placenta.

“This video simply tells everyone how to cook for the day.”

Many of his followers could not hide their feelings of shock and disgust, while others seemed more curious if the meal is worth trying.

Instagram user ‘songzhongji6’ commented: “Really disgusting.”

Another user titled ‘cheekydudette’ wrote: “You are sick and have lost your mind and senses. This is cannibalism. Soon you will eat your wife and children.”

While user ‘phgoh’ said: “So courageous to do so! I’ve heard of people cooking it like you and also blending it in a smoothie.

“I’m only planning to encapsulate it. Pills are easier for me to consume instead.

“Hope mama’s feeling more energetic and recovering well after this!”

Eating the placenta has become quite a popular and debated trend globally.

Numerous celebrities have admitted to encapsulating, blending, and cooking it for rumoured health advantages.

Well-known figures like Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, Alicia Silverstone, and Hilary Duff have reportedly engaged in this practice.

However, experts from Mayo Clinic – a nonprofit organisation focused on clinical practice, education, and research – claim that there is no scientific evidence supporting the health benefits of consuming the placenta.

Experts have also warned about potential health risks, claiming the placenta could contain infectious bacteria and viruses even if it is cooked.
