An extreme mountaineer and rock climber has shocked her fellow hikers after she climbed on top of a rocky cliff without wearing any safety equipment.
Drone footage shows the woman, whose name and age were not disclosed, knuckle-walking on the dangerous Tianchan Wangyue Cliff on the Jiuhua Mountain in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui.
Just moments later in the astonishing video, she can be seen standing up straight and walking on the cliff with no safety equipment on, before reaching the peak and sitting down to enjoy the view.
The footage triggered an avalanche of comments after it shared on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, on 13th January.
Many criticised her for her dangerous move and worried whether she had caused any damage to the environment.
Douyin user ‘Sea of Stars’ said: “These climbers won’t do anything to Tianchan, right?”
Then user ‘Xiaobai’ commented: “These are all adults, and I think we should be responsible for our own actions.”
And ‘Erin’ added: “When I saw this, I felt like my calves were shaking.”
After the video emerged online, Jiuhua Mountian protection authorities said that such kind of climbing banned since the area was under protection.
Police are now investigating whether the woman had actually damaged the environment with her actions. She faces a hefty fine if found guilty.
