This footage shows a mutant calf that was born with a cape-like membrane.
Veterinarian Muhammed Coduroglu, was the vet who delivered the calf after he went to the village of Cicekyazi, in the Kure district of the north-central Turkish region of Kastamonu, to assist with a cow giving birth.
But he had not realised it would be a birth he would never forget after the newborn calf arrived with a cape-like tissue around its neck.
Footage shows the membrane stuck to the wide-eyed baby calf’s neck shortly after it was born, draping around its body in what many said was like a superhero cape.
A second clip shows the calf after the ‘cape’ was removed.
Coduroglu said it was the first time he had seen anything like it in all his professional career.
They reported the situation to a pathology department at a hospital, with the vet explaining that no other similar cases had been noted in any studies.

After consulting with a number of experts, the vet said that it was highly likely that the calf was suffering from spina bifida.
Spina bifida is a condition that affects the spine, usually from birth. It is a type of neural tube defect.
Coduroglu said: “At the same time, the upper palate is not fully formed and there is a cleft upper palate. When animals with a cleft upper palate, called palotoschisis. Drink milk, milk or food may escape into the lungs, resulting in aspiration pneumonia.
“Unfortunately, the chance of survival is very low if left untreated.”
