Former Real Madrid star Ivan Helguera has revealed Brazil icon Ronaldo had “buses filled with ladies” go to his house during parties while David Beckham was “a fantastic professional”.

Former Spain defender Helguera, 45, made the comments during an Instagram live interview with a Spanish journalist know as ‘Mister Chip’ on Monday 20th April.

The former Spain defender revealed when he “was at a birthday party with my wife” and “buses filled with ladies, my wife sent me straight home. Figo and I went running home.

“It was at Ronaldo’s house which he later sold to Sergio Ramos.”

Helguera added Ronaldo, 43, “had another party when we won La Liga. It was also a massive one. I stayed late for that one.”

When asked what that one was like, he laughed and simply said: “Ronaldo was like that.”

The former defender formed part of the ‘Galacticos’ which included Brazil legend Roberto Carlos, 47.

The former Brazil full-back said in October of last year “training sessions on Monday and sometimes Tuesdays were at five in the afternoon” because “almost nobody would go” if they were “set at 11 in the morning.”

When asked about the comments, Helguera said: “The Brazilians were different. One of the good things Del Bosque did was he knew how to manage the squad very well.

“Some people liked to go out more than others, but to the point of changing our training sessions to the afternoon, I can assure you it wasn’t like that. We trained at 11 every day.

“Beckham was a fantastic professional. Figo and Zidane too. Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo liked to go out but they didn’t do it every day.

“If we played on Saturday and won they’d maybe go out but partying on a Friday or Saturday when we had a match on Sunday, things were not like that.”

Former Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque managed Real Madrid between 1999 to 2003. He was sacked for reportedly having a bad relationship with club directors.

Helguera said: “Something happened and they wanted to sack Del Bosque. We wanted him to stay and didn’t like the way it was handled.

“The season ended and Del Bosque did not continue. We went on holiday without knowing what had happened.”

Helguera won three La Ligas and two Champions Leagues with Real Madrid. He played for Valencia in the 2007/2008 season winning the Copa del Rey before hanging his boots.
