This is the shocking moment a mother brutally beats her crying seven-year-old daughter and whipping her with an extension cord.
The disturbing scenes were reportedly recorded by the mother’s ex-husband in the city of Montes Claros in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais and the pair have now been arrested.
In the video, the woman, who has not been named in reports but is 25 years old, can be seen sitting on a bed as her daughter cowers in the corner and cries.

The woman is wrapping up a cable, reportedly an extension lead, and she then forcefully whips the girl with it twice.
The youngster screams in pain and shouts “help” before her mother grabs her and throws her against a cabinet. She then lifts her by her head and slaps her in the face as she says “tell the truth”.
The woman then whips the girl’s legs with the cable and the youngster tries to run away before she grabs her and throws her back onto the bed.
The youngster screams in fear and stands up before she is grabbed back down.
The girl appeals for help and a male voice can be heard saying “you are lying to your mother”.
The woman and her ex-husband have now been arrested. The Military Police report the woman told officers she was punishing the child for playing with condoms that she had found in the house.
The couple had divorced a year ago and the man had gone to her house to deliver some milk to his children, the girl in the video and another two children he had with the woman.
Local police chief Jose Fernandes said: “He has two other children with the wife and he said that he went to her house to deliver milk to the children. Upon arriving at the property, he caught his ex assaulting his daughter and filmed the images to extort her into resuming the marriage.”
Fernandes said the man called the police the night after the images were recorded after he had an argument with the woman.
He added: “The two had an argument and he called the police saying that he was being harassed by the woman, that she was kicking on his front door.
“During the incident, we questioned the reason for the disagreement and the man showed us the video.”
The girl was reportedly taken to the Legal Medicine Institute for her body to be examined and is now in the care of an aunt.
Civil Police investigator Monica Paiva said the man is being investigated for extortion and the woman for torture. It is unclear if they have been charged and they both remain in detention.
