This is the moment men – reportedly plain clothes cops – are filmed beating lockdown breakers with a wooden stick in the street.

The clip was reportedly recorded in the city of Teloloapan in the state of Guerrero in south-eastern Mexico and local media report the footage shows local policemen punishing several young men using a wooden board.

In the video, a man can be seen facing the wall while a reported policeman is seen waiting with a wooden stick in his hands.

A man is heard saying: “Please, stay at home my friends because if you don’t this is what is going to happen to you”

Then the man with the stick is seen hitting the man on his buttocks with the wooden stick. When the punishment is finished the clip shows a line of other men waiting for their turn.

The man is heard saying: “We still have several to go.”

Reports said that the local police have taken this measure to punish young men in particular who are often seen in the streets of the city in small gatherings drinking.

Local media report an anonymous officer from the local police admitted the clip had been recorded by policemen in Teloloapan.

However, the Mayor of the city Efren Romero Sotelo said: “There is no certainty that the place where this aggressions are taking place in Teloloapan. I do not support this action and I have not been consulted.”
