This is the miracle moment a one-year-old boy is hit by his dad’s pickup truck and is nearly run over but escapes with just a scratch on the knee thanks to passing motorists who beeped their horns to get the drivers attention.

The lucky escape was caught on CCTV in the city of Arapiraca in the Brazilian state of Alagoas on Saturday, 23rd October, with the footage going viral four days later.

Footage shows how businessman Silvio Araujo, 35, drives out of his garage without realising his son Arthur, aged one year and 10 months, is running after him in front of the reversing vehicle.

After he has fully backed out onto the road, he starts turning forward and ends up knocking the youngster to the road.

The tense footage shows how he brings his car to a stop just niches away running over his infant son thanks to nearby drivers who beeped their horns.

The relieved dad explained he had not noticed his son at the time due to the height of his hefty pickup truck.

He told news portal G1: “Gratitude to God and to the people who honked their horns. They are the true heroes, angels disguised as men.”

After the boy fell on the road, he was picked up by his mother, who had rushed out of the house with the boy’s seven-year-old sister.

Miraculously, he had suffered a mere scratch to the knee and did not need medical attention.

Araujo told G1: “It was an alert for other people who have children at home, pets too, that you take utmost care.”
