Drug Lord El Chapo Treated To Cornish Game Hen For Christmas Dins

Notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman has reportedly been served Cornish game hen and peanut butter cake for dinner during his third Christmas in a US maximum-security prison.

The deadly Sinaloa Cartel’s former leader, considered one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world, has been serving his life sentence at ADX Florence in the US state of Colorado since July 2019.

During his third Christmas behind bars, the 64-year-old former drug lord was treated to a plush dinner and activities that included a talent show.

According to the news site Infobae, El Chapo was served Cornish game hen and peanut butter cake for Christmas dinner before taking part in festive activities such as drawing, painting, and a musical talent contest.

He was convicted of trafficking tonnes of drugs from Central America to Mexico, the US, and Canada for over 30 years using boats, planes, road vehicles, trains, submarines, and tunnels.

Witnesses accused him of bribing officials at nearly every level of Mexico’s police, military, and politics, including an alleged USD 100 million payment to former President Enrique Pena Nieto.

After the fall of El Chapo, his four sons allegedly took over the cartel and they are either under indictment or investigation by US federal agents.

Earlier this month, the US authorities offered a USD 5 million bounty for each of El Chapo’s four sons, known as ‘Los Chapitos’. The brothers are named Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, and Jesus Alfredo Guzman.

Their father now spends the majority of his time in a cell that is just two metres (7 feet) wide and 3.5 metres (11 feet) long.

El Chapo does leave his cell, but only for two hours a week, when he is given access to a patio area.

Earlier this year, his lawyers stated: “Since his arrival in the United States, Mr Guzman has been kept in prison in cruel and inhuman conditions, equivalent to physical and mental torture.”

The lawyers filed further complaints, claiming that their client is being deprived of access to TV and educational materials in his native tongue of Spanish, as everything is in English.
