This is the moment a heroic driver pursues and waves down another motorist who does not realise the underside of his car is on fire shortly before the vehicle is seen exploding in a flaming inferno.

The dramatic scenes were captured on the streets of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province in South China, on 5th January.

In the video, the driver and his passenger chase after the Lexus NX which appears to have smoke coming from its chassis.

The driver repeatedly honks at the Lexus owner who continues to drive despite the smoke turning into substantial flames burning the underside of his vehicle.

The driver can be heard screaming throughout the clip: “Your car is on fire!”

He eventually overtakes the Lexus, with police saying the panicking driver got out and ran away.

Video taken in the aftermath of the incident shows the Lexus later engulfed in flames, with small explosions heard coming from the blaze.

The entire car was burned to its shell, images show, but the authorities said no one was injured.

A police spokesperson said the flames grew out of control, and they did not have the means to tackle the fire before the fire service arrived.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated at the time of writing.
