This is the moment Malaysian dog catchers kick and slap a defenceless stray dog on the ground after it has been caught in their nets.

The incident was filmed in the municipality of Seremban located in the south-western Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan, and was later shared on Facebook by a local community group with a warning for residents to watch their dogs closely.

In the footage, a stray dog is seen caught up in the dog catchers’ nets before one of them is seen kicking and slapping the scared, defenceless animal on the ground.

Seremban councillor Ho Weng Wah told local media that dog catchers should follow the council’s rules and regulations to prevent such incidents from taking place.

The council has reportedly warned the animal catchers in the video about the situation several times before.

Meanwhile, the official said that a municipal council officer should always be present when an animal is caught, but no such supervisor is seen in the footage and Mr. Ho is reportedly looking into the matter.

He also urged the public to report any incidents of dog catchers abusing animals with the police and to file a report with the Malaysian Veterinary Council so necessary measures can be taken.
