A family of six including a doctor running a hospital’s emergency room have become a symbol of hope after posting a picture of themselves healthy and smiling having all recovered from COVID-19 after a week in hospital.
The family of Dr Samsu Ambia Ismail all tested positive for the disease as he battled with the fallout from the pandemic as the head of Teluk Intan Hospital Emergency and Trauma Department head.
But now his eldest daughter Erika Syamim, 17, has shared a picture on social media together with the happy caption “Finally COVID free!!”
She also uploaded a small video on TikTok showing the family finally able to transform from the hospital protective clothes into regular clothing once again.
On the video she wrote: “Okay, so my family has been discharged! Thank you so much for all the kind prayers. Here’s probably our last TikTok together in the hospital.”
They were discharged after successfully testing -3 times, but will now still have to spend two weeks in isolation at home.
That will mean food and anything else they need is supplied by local government officials while they remain quarantined.
Erika said the advantage was it gave them plenty of time to make sure the home is properly disinfected.
She added: “Now we are spending our time as a healthy stay at home family and are also helping people who are asking us about this disease.”
