This disturbing video shows the last message a teary mother left for her husband before choking her smiling toddler son to death and then taking her own life.

The incident took place in the rural area of Cocao, in the municipality of Wenceslau Guimaraes, in the north-eastern Brazilian state of Bahia, on Friday afternoon, 18th March.

The woman, identified as Rayssa Santana, allegedly asphyxiated her son, aged 1 year and 4 months, before killing herself. The boy’s name was not divulged.

Before killing the toddler, she filmed a video, with her youngster on her lap, bidding her husband goodbye. She then reportedly sent him the video.

The youngster is seen smiling in the footage, unaware of the fate about to befall him.

Rayssa is heard in the video saying: “Say hi to daddy. ‘Hi, daddy.’ My love, I’ve filmed this video just so you can see your son, because these are the last images of us.

“I would like you to know that I loved you a lot, I love you a lot, and that we were very happy. I have been very happy during these four years of marriage to you.

“You are a great person. God could not have given me a better husband. Forgive me for this. I have failed as a wife, I have failed as a mother.

But I will have to take Jesse too, so you can carry on with your life. It will be difficult, but you will be able to carry on with your life, okay?

“You will soon meet Jesse, in heaven. But, as for me, I do not think God will forgive me for what I have done. Goodbye, farewell. Say bye to daddy. ‘Bye, daddy.'”

Following the alleged crimes, police officers arrived at the house, where they found the two victims inside. It is not clear who had called them to the scene.

The bodies were removed and taken for post-mortems at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Valenca, which lies shy of two hours away by car.

The motive for the alleged crimes remains unclear, and police in Valenca are investigating the case.
