A senior Town Hall politician accused of paying to have sex with children and possessing child porn has been seized by police in Germany.

Daniel Wolski, 41, deputy mayor in Luenen, North Rhine-Westphalia, was arrested on 27th October after officers allegedly confiscated sickening pornography from his home.

Wolski was taken into custody, according to local media, because prosecutors feared he was trying to influence the investigation.

The civic big wig, the city’s Vice Burgermeister, is said to have trawled for male and female victims online and exchanged explicit pictures by phone.

His lawyer, Arabella Pooth, 40, was surprised at the arrest and told local media: “We cannot comment at the moment. We have requested access to the files.”

The Mayor of Luenen, Juergen Kleine-Frauns, 56, said: “Without exception, I condemn all forms of sexual abuse.

“I learned about the imprisonment of our city’s first deputy mayor from the media. The suspicion affects me very much.

“I hope that the investigation will be concluded quickly.”

A spokesperson for the SPD, Wolski’s party, told local media that the party is “shocked by the serious allegations that are being made”.

They added: “If the allegations are confirmed, Daniel Wolski has no place in the ranks of the Social Democrats.”

The investigation is ongoing.
