This viral video – seen over 13 million times in 24 hours – shows a delivery man repeatedly spitting on the button panel of his clients’ lift.

The incident happened inside a residential building in Chinese capital Beijing on 23th September.

The staff member wearing the blue uniform of Chinese delivery giant ELEME shows him stepping into the lift car while holding his mobile phone.

After pressing a button to select his target floors, the delivery man looks at the buttons and begins spitting at the panels.

The viral clip shows the employee spitting at the buttons four times, leaving phlegm-filled saliva sliding down the side of the lift.

According to reports, management staff inside the residential district have already reported the incident to the police.

They have also contacted the Beijing office of now Alibaba-owned ELEME, which said it was investigating the incident.

It was still unclear at the time of writing whether the delivery man’s actions were in response to messages exchanged between him and his clients.

Reports have noted that the staff member works for ELEME’s sub-service Fengniao, which is a logistics arm catering to the delivery of groceries and other online purchases.
