A 14-year-old girl accused of killing her newborn daughter is said to have slit the baby’s throat and thrown her body in a rubbish bin.

The unnamed teen – from Porangatu, Brazil – was arrested with her cousin and their partner, who are suspected of having assisted in the murder.

Her cousin’s partner, reports local media – is suspected of being the baby’s father.

The teen is believed to have given birth in the bathroom at home and allegedly slit the baby’s throat with a knife on 5th February after being talked into it by the couple.

The murder allegedly came after several failed abortion attempts.

After being unable to terminate the pregnancy the girl gave birth to a daughter and then allegedly butchered the infant with a large knife.

Because the teen suffered significant blood loss, she had to go to a hospital, local media reported.

Medics at first believed she had undergone a miscarriage but later discovered that the bleeding had been caused by giving birth and called the police.

Investigators reportedly spoke to the girl’s family, who claimed they had no knowledge of a pregnancy.

One of the family members later searched the home and found the body of the newborn in a garbage bin.

Following her release from the hospital, police arrested the girl, along with a cousin and her partner.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
