This the moment a heartless couple toss a newborn is a plastic bag on the side of the street before cops are called due to the smell.

The shocking incident occurred in the locality of Ciudad Bolivar in the capital city of Bogota in Colombia and was recorded by a CCTV camera.

In the video, a couple can be seen walking down the street when the woman throws a black plastic bag onto the side of the pavement.

Reports state local residents then called the police when a strong smell began emanating from the bag and officers arrived on the scene.

The cops reportedly found a dead baby boy in the bag and it was later confirmed the tot was between 10 and 15 days old.

The baby had been dead for a few hours when the cops found him but it is unclear where or how the tot died.

The cops are searching for the couple in the video but it is unclear if the baby is believed to be theirs or not.

Yohana Jimenez from the ‘Foundation Gilma Jimenez’ which works to protect children’s rights, was worried if the victim had siblings, saying: “Are there any children with those adults? They might be in danger.”

It is believed that the couple that abandoned the baby lives in the area and the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been reported.

Netizen ‘Leugim Selbor’ commented: “Why doesn’t anybody do anything? Enough evil… the earth has turned into hell for the most vulnerable…”

And ‘Cristina Gonzalez’ added: ‘It’s very sad that ‘people’ like this exist.”
