A cross-dresser has been arrested for strangling his wheelchair-bound partner whom he had met in prison to death with his bare hands.
Milan Spasic, aged 38, is accused of killed Danijel Crnjin, aged 43, in his dilapidated house on the outskirts of the Serbian town of Novi Becej on the night of Wednesday, 29th September.
An ambulance was called to the scene, but paramedics were unable to save the victim.
The killing is believed to have taken place following a row between the couple. According to the victim’s relatives, the two had been together for 10 years and rows were commonplace.
A relative of the victim who spoke to the suspect following the crime revealed that he said he did it “because he could no longer put up with him”.
The victim had been confined to a wheelchair after suffering a fall in which he injured his spine in 2013.
He underwent an operation at the time, but, despite doctors’ best efforts, he was left unable to ever walk again, and he was left reliant on disability allowance.
The suspect, who hails from the capital, Belgrade, and who goes by the name Anci, had met Crnjin in prison.
Spasic was serving time for prostitution-related offences and Crnjin was serving time for raping a woman.
After their release, Crnjin brought Spasic to his hometown to live with him and introduced him to his relatives.
Though Spasic wears women’s clothing including a bra and makeup, he is a legal man.
His preventive custody for 48 hours was ordered, after which he will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in the city of Zrenjanin along with a criminal report.
