This is the moment a 71-year-old woman lies on a Chinese supermarket floor in a pool of blood after a teenage girl reportedly stabbed her and a nine-year-old girl to make sure she got the last bottle of disinfectant on the shelf.

With many outlets in China low on stocks for face masks and other sanitary products, a fight broke out in a supermarket in the county of Baoying in the eastern province of Jiangsu when several shoppers scrambled for the last bottle of disinfectant liquid on the shelf, according to local media.

Amid fears surrounding the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, a 17-year-old girl, identified as Wang, reportedly stabbed two people to claim the sanitary product.

In the footage, the elderly victim appears to be in a bad way as she lies on the supermarket floor in a pool of blood while a woman lifts her head.

The second clip shows the girl, reportedly wearing a blue coat and pink face mask, being supported by pals as blood is seen on the floor by their feet.

A 71-year-old woman, also surnamed Wang although unclear if she is related to the suspect, and a nine-year-old girl, surnamed Zhu, were stabbed by the teen.

Recent reports said both victims survived the attack and are stable in hospital, contradicting some earlier reports which claimed they had been killed.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
