Juventus defender Daniele Rugani’s WAG has said “I am infinitely scared” after revealing they are “expecting a child” with both parents testing positive for the coronavirus.
Italy defender Rugani’s wife Michela Persico made the shocking revelation during an interview with Italian magazine ‘Chi’ after the couple tested positive for the coronavirus, officially named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization.
Persico revealed: “Rugani and I are expecting a child I’m afraid. I still cannot speak about it. For now, I have to grasp what comes next. I hope the virus does not affect my pregnancy.”
Persico, who is a well-known sports presenter in Italy, went on to say “doctors have assured me that there should not be any problems, but put yourself my shoes. I am infinitely scared.”
Chinese agency ‘Xinhua’ reported a baby, born on 2nd February in the city of Wuhan where the virus was discovered, tested positive for COVID-19 just 30 hours after birth.
The child was reportedly stable and under observation however, the newborn’s current state is unclear.
The Italian presenter also spoke how they realised they had the virus saying: “Daniele had no symptoms and then suddenly, he had a fever out of nowhere and the testing began. He is fine.”
When speaking about her own health Persico said: “I have no symptoms. I am lonely when I cannot see anybody. But that is what I will do.”
Local media report Rugani, 25, was one of the first Italian footballers to test positive for the virus as the Serie A is on suspension until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The virus has claimed the lives of a reported 2,978 people after 35,713 confirmed cases in Italy making it the second-most affected country by the virus after mainland China.
There have been a reported 211,211 worldwide cases leading to 8,847 deaths.
