This is the moment cops make a murder suspect dig up the dead body of a missing 14-year-old girl from a shallow grave.

Luis David Bac Chavez, 22, was allegedly caught red-handed burying the body of missing Yoselyn Karina Catarina Sis Perez, 14, in the municipality of San Pedro Ayampuc in the central Guatemalan department of Guatemala.

A police statement said the teenager had massive injuries to her head and other parts of her body, but an autopsy will take place to establish the exact cause of death.

Police say they believe she had been stoned to death.

Local media said the police officers were patrolling the area when they came across the suspect shovelling soil and soon realised the man was covering a shallow grave.

Distressing footage shows the moment the man digs up the girl’s body and drags it out of her earthy tomb.

According to reports, the officers also found a handbag and bloodstained clothes on the scene which will undergo DNA tests.

Local media said the 14-year-old girl was reported as missing in early December.

Bac Chavez told the authorities that he buried the victim, but was not involved in her alleged murder.

He told a judge: “I did not kill her, I only buried her because El Negro (The Black) and Carita de Nieve (Snow Face) threatened me.”

The two named men reportedly belong to a local ‘Mara’ gang.

Bac Chavez’s defence lawyer believed he should not be tried for homicide, however the Public Ministry has charged him with the girl’s killing because he was caught burying her body.

It is currently unclear why the teenager was killed and the investigation is ongoing. Forensics will determine the cause of death.
