This is the dramatic moment Russian cops chase an alleged drink-driver along icy roads and manage to arrest him on the second attempt after he gave officers the run around the first time.
The incident was filmed by the police car’s dashcam in the village of Ust-Uda in the south-eastern Russian region of Irkutsk Oblast, and was later posted on social media.
According to local media, the police tried to stop the vehicle at around 3am on New Year’s Day, but the driver sped away instead.
In the footage, the police car is seen chasing the minivan along icy streets before the alleged drink-driver stops by the side of the road.
However, just as one cop opens the driver’s door, the driver steps on the accelerator and leaves the officer floundering in the snow.
The cops return to their patrol car and start chasing the suspect along the icy roads again.
The alleged drink-driver stops a second time and appears to stall the engine before finally being arrested by at least three cops.
According to local media, the suspect has a long criminal record and prosecutors have not yet decided what action to take.
