A pervert bricklayer who throttled a 12-year-old girl and buried her body in cement in his backyard has been seized by police in Brazil.
Suspect Reidimar Silva, 31, was arrested in Goiania, Goias State, on 29th November following the chilling discovery in his garden.
Victim Luana Marcelo Alves had left her home to go to the bakery two days earlier and had failed to return.
Silva is believed to have lured her into his car as she walked home, pretending he owed her mother money and would give her the cash.
But the brickie took Luana to his home, where, he told police, he attempted to rape her.
Investigators said that when he was arrested, Silva still had scratches all over his face from when Luana had tried desperately to escape.
Silva told police he strangled Luana to death before covering her body in wood and Styrofoam and setting it on fire.
Then he then dug a hole in his back garden, threw in her body, and filled the hole with cement.
Silva was remanded in custody and stands accused of statutory rape, aggravated murder, and concealment of a corpse.
If found guilty of all charges, he faces more than 30 years in prison.
Civil Police Constable Caroline Borges Braga said: “From the moment he reported he had been drinking alcohol all night, as well as using a narcotic substance, we realised he was out of his mind and was the likely perpetrator of the murder.”
According to Constable Braga, he has served time for robbery and receiving stolen property.
He was also investigated for rape in 2015 but was acquitted.
Luana’s grandmother Fatima Coelho told local media: “Luana was loved by everyone. She dreamed of studying medicine. A girl who was no trouble, she was clever, honest, and studious. Why do that?”
And grieving Robson Marcelo said of his daughter’s killer: “I only want justice. You cannot call such a person a person or a human being.”
