A Mexican official has shared a snap of him laying on the floor covered in cash – in a clip echoing a famous scene from the TV series Breaking Bad – days after council workers salaries were cut by his cousin.

The pictures were taken in the city of Candela in the state of Coahuila de Zaragoza in northern Mexico.

The picture shows the civil servant of Candela named as Juan Carlo laying on the floor covered in bills of 500 MXN (20.60 GBP).

Local media has compared the snap with a popular scene in the series ‘Breaking Bad’ in which an American high-school chemistry teacher stricken by cancer makes cash by cooking up crystal meth.

In one episode two characters from the series can be seen laying on a pile of dollar bills.

According to local media, Juan Carlos works as a civil servant in the city council of Candela and he is also the cousin of the mayor of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Amador Garza Gonzalez.

Reports said that Graza Gonzalez has been sued for cutting on the salaries of the civil servants at the city hall.

The snap was reportedly shared on social media and WhatsApp and has triggered a lot of criticism both against the mayor and the civil servant Juan Carlos.
