A Mexican vet has been arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping for allegedly using his animal surgery as the operating theatre to cut a baby out of a pregnant woman’s body before burying her remains on a remote farm.

The alleged butcher, identified as Marco N., 38, was arrested in the city of Monterrey, in the north-eastern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon on Saturday 21st August.

The events date back to 1st June with the disappearance of the heavily pregnant woman, identified as Monica Segura Temich, 22, which was reported by her family.

At the time, she was eight months pregnant and was lured into a meeting by a woman she met online, later identified as Yuli Salas, 33, on the premise of getting clothes for the baby.

According to information from the national newspaper Infobae, Yuli Salas and Marcos N. are romantically involved.

Salas was arrested for kidnapping after authorities reportedly confirmed the DNA of the newborn matched the pregnant woman’s partner on 21st July.

At that time there was no body of the missing woman to take a DNA probe from, so they had used her boyfriend instead as he was the father.

Subsequently, the Office of the Special Prosecutor for Missing Persons carried out several searches in various properties, including a house that operated as a veterinary clinic, close to Salas’ house, and found two firearms, 38 cartridges, drugs, an incubator and samples of blood fluid.

This led them on to the latest arrest of the man Marco N., as it was the place where he used to work, and because of his relationship with the woman already arrested.

Finally, the body of Monica Segura Temich was found in an abandoned farm in the city of Juarez, in Nuevo Leon, on 26th June.

Reportedly, the results of the autopsy performed on the victim confirmed the cause of death as a severe loss of blood caused by a cut made in the pregnant woman’s abdomen with a sharp object.

Marcos N. and Yuli Salas are in remand in two different prisons awaiting a hearing to confirm the charges of aggravated kidnapping. It is unclear what the situation is with potential other charges for example over the killing of the young woman.
