This is the shocking moment a high school teacher kicks and punches a high school student in front of the whole class on two separate occasions.

The unnamed teacher at the Bostancik Anatolian High School in the district of Sahinbey in the Turkish province of Gaziantep is under investigation after the incident where he was seen to be kicking, punching and slapping the student, who has not been named, in front of the whole class.

The incident was recorded by another student with a mobile phone camera and posted on the Internet last week.

The footage allegedly shows the teacher slapping the student several times in front of other students, and it ends with the teacher kicking the student right when he was moving to go to his desk.

None of the students intervened and many reacted to the incidents by laughing.

Gaziantep Governor Davut Gul, said in a statement on 7th January about the video of the student being beaten, that legal action had been initiated regarding the incident.

Gul said: “Legal action has been initiated over the images of violence perpetrated by a teacher in the Bostancik Anatolian High School, and our governor’s office will follow up the issue.”

After the Governor’s statement, many students and parents tweeted that it was not the fault of the teacher.

A netizen named ‘Mustafa Uzun’ tweeted: “Dear Governor, I am a student at that school. As the teacher treats the students like his friends and gives them space, they do not let the teacher lecture during the class and swear in the classroom. Listen to the story from the students.”

Another netizen named ‘Mustafa Mavi’ tweeted: “Dear Governor, my daughter is also studying at the same high school. There is no reason to blame teachers that much! Are the students not at fault too? I think it’s us, the parents, who are to blame. We do not give our children the education they need. That’s why we have to blame ourselves first.”

It is currently unclear if the teacher has been fired or arrested.
