This is the moment a man wearing camouflage gear matching a wall leading to the Mexican border with the US is filmed sneaking down a busy road.

But possibly after realising he is being filmed, the man breaks away from the wall and as he suddenly becomes more visible he dashes across the road before unsuccessfully trying to climb a concrete barrier.

The incident took place at the Nogales/Mariposa Port of Entry in the municipality of Nogales in the northern Mexican state of Sonora which borders with the US state of Arizona.

it is suspected that the man was an illegal immigrant hoping to get near the border before trying his luck getting across, but this was not confirmed.

In the footage shot by a driver in the queue waiting to cross the border, a man in camouflage runs along the border wall while crouched down low in order to make himself as small as possible.

According to local media, the waiting time at the border crossing is between 10 and 25 minutes

It is unclear what happened to the person and where they were from.

The Nogales-Mariposa Arizona Port of Entry opened in 1973 to divert truck traffic away from the busy Grand Avenue border crossing.

It connects Arizona State Route 189 with Mexican Federal Highway 15. All commercial traffic entering the United States at Nogales now enters through the Mariposa port of entry.

The port facilities are currently undergoing renovation to accommodate increasing traffic and to support new equipment and procedures.
