A businessman has been arrested after a pretty 26-year-old woman plummeted naked to her death from the sixth floor of a building in a posh neighbourhood in Buenos Aires.
The victim has been named as Emmily Rodriguez, and she died while being taken to hospital after falling from the sixth floor of the building, reportedly located near the Brazilian Embassy, in the Retiro neighbourhood of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, on Thursday, 30th March.
The businessman, who reportedly owns the apartment and has been named as Francisco Saenz Valiente, 52, was arrested after firefighters found her on the ground, without clothes, and a witness said the pair had argued.
Local media said that the police had received a phone call on Thursday morning saying that the young woman had thrown herself from the sixth floor of the apartment, which was used for drunken parties that took place “on any day of the week”.
A local resident is quoted in local media as saying: “He always brings women. All the time. Anytime, day or night, it doesn’t matter. It’s not the first time.”
Local media also said that a number of bottles of alcohol were found inside the flat, with neighbours reportedly saying that they heard fighting and screams before the young woman was found dead.
Saenz Valiente, a businessman who works in the agriculture sector, told the police that he had been in the flat with Emmily, originally from Brazil, and another woman, named as Juliana Magalhaes Mourao, 37, according to local media.
He also reportedly claimed that the three of them had been drinking alcohol and that Juliana had then left.
He said that Emmily was “completely out of control” and had then tried to open a first window but had not been able to.
Saenz Valiente also reportedly claimed that she then tried a second window, reportedly overlooking an inner courtyard, before throwing herself out of it.
But Juliana said in a statement to the police that Saenz Valiente and Emmily had been arguing, according to local media.
An unnamed witness also reportedly said that she saw a woman leaning out of the window and “screaming for help”.
Saenz Valiente, who reportedly suffered some injuries to his face – which he claimed were sustained trying to stop Emmily from jumping – has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to local media.
It was unclear at the time of writing if he had been charged.
