This is the moment bungling medics in Romania drop a stretcher carrying a suspected coronavirus patient being transported to quarantine.

The unnamed woman, who teaches English in China, had just returned to her hometown of Suceava, in North-eastern Romania`s Suceava County, after flying from the city of Kunming, in Southern China`s Yunnan Province via Hong Kong.

She presented herself to medics when she began to feel ill after returning to her homeland from China.

Medics then decided to isolate the 33-year-old woman.

Representative of the Public Health Authority in Suceava, Silvia Buleac said: “On her return in the country, she presented at the hospital with feverish conditions.

“She was monitored and put under observation. We have contacted family members, we will investigate those who were on the plane with this person.”

The incident seen in the footage took place after medics decided to transport her to the regional hospital from the city of Iasi, in North-eastern Romania`s Iasi County.

When she was about to be moved by ambulance one of the paramedics slipped and fell, dropping the stretcher on which the patient lay.

Fortunately, the woman was not injured in the incident.

It was later confirmed that she was not suffering from the coronavirus and was given treatment for flu at Iasi Hospital for Infectious Diseases.

Medic Carmen Dorobat declared that the woman`s state of health as good: “The patient was brought to us with a fever and a cough. It is not a particularly serious condition, but the case needs our attention.”
