This is the moment a reportedly drunk Russian man almost died after he ran onto a frozen lake and crashed through a hole that left him trapped under the ice in the freezing cold water.
The bizarre incident took place in the Siberian city of Irkutsk in south-eastern Irkutsk Oblast region and was recorded on a smart phone camera by one of the man’s pals.
In the footage, the unnamed bare-chested man can be seen stepping on the ice of what appears to be a frozen lake. The man instantly slips, cracking the ice before dropping into the water.
He disappears under the ice and was reportedly trying to push through the ice from below. The man recording appears to be worried and steps onto the ice to try to help his pal who can eventually be seen stepping out of the water back onto the ice.
Russian media report that the man had hurt his head when he slipped on the ice, making it harder for him to find a way out of the water.
Netizen ‘Nikolay Makeev’ said: “Oh boy, the way he wanted to save him.”
Another one ‘Natalia Timo’ commented: “Why would someone take him out of the water?”
Other netizens implied that the men are drunkards and deserve to get hurt.
It is unclear if the man suffered any injuries in the incident.
