Builders Watch As Under-Construction High-Rise Burns

This is the moment stunned workers look on as an under-construction high-rise goes up in flames after a pile of rubble suddenly catches fire.

The 25-storey tower block in Teng County, which is in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is among around a dozen building inside a new residential district.

The unoccupied building was nearing completion with interior work reportedly scheduled to begin when the fire started on 14th November.

In videos which show the flames originating from the entrance of the high-rise residential block, a pile of rubble and construction waste appears to be burning.

Huge plumes of smoke rise up the side of the structure as the fire grows at the worksite, with helpless construction workers gathering around the building but unable to tackle the blaze.

According to witness reports, the Teng County fire service as well as local police were dispatched to the worksite and put out the flames within the hour.

The cause of the blaze was still being investigated at the time of writing, and it was not immediately clear whether the fire was accidental, or whether it was the result of arson.

No casualties have been reported thus far.
