This is the moment two newlyweds attend their wedding via video call after a severe snowstorm left them unable to reach the venue and join their guests.

One video, filmed inside the venue in Xiangtan, in China’s southern Hunan Province on 5th February, shows the wedding MC introducing the groom as the ceremony begins.

Dozens of attendees were seen dressed in warm winter clothing and sitting around their tables prepped with drinks turned towards a large screen broadcasting the video call.

Meanwhile, the groom, not named in local media, could be seen in his suit, greeting the guests with a smile from the bride’s home.

He and the groomsmen were reportedly met with a sudden blizzard when they arrived at the bride’s home to pick her up, according to custom.

Faced with increasingly worsening weather, they opted to participate in the wedding banquet online instead.

Another clip shows the blushing bride, wearing a thick winter jacket over her traditional red gown to keep warm, standing outside in the snow.

Her soon-to-be-husband knelt beside her, presenting the wedding ring, as their guests gushed over the scene displayed on the screen.

The footage quickly spread across Douyin, China’s version of TikTok, with many netizens wishing the newlyweds good fortune.

One user titled ‘Um….’ commented: “It can be regarded as an unforgettable and beautiful memory. And it will also be a reason to brag in the future. Best wishes to the newlyweds in Hunan!”

User ‘Sunny day…!’ wrote. “The wedding ceremony is really not important, what is important is the blessings of family and friends!”

And ‘Yan Fan (weight loss version)’ replied. “What matters is the gifts from family and friends.”
