This 68-year-old Mexican-Chinese actress and dancer has revealed that she considered killing herself after undergoing a botched cosmetic procedure that dramatically changed the shape of her face.

Liliana Mendiola Mayanes, better known by her stage name Lyn May, is a Mexican cabaret star, exotic dancer and actress. She was one of the most popular Mexican vedettes during the 1970s and 1980s and became a national sex symbol.

On the Mexican TV show ‘De Primera Mano’, the actress revealed that she considered taking her own life after plastic surgery changed her features dramatically.

May said: “I do not think about it (suicide) anymore. I do not give my brain time for that. It is occupied learning songs and dance. Nothing negative.”

According to local media, the 68-year-old is willing to go under the knife again to improve her appearance.

In February, the actress appeared on the TV programme ‘Un Nuevo Dia’ on Mexican channel Telemundo wearing a face mask that she later took off to reveal the results of her surgery.

May said: “I have accepted myself because I do not have a lot of time left so I do not worry about how I look or how others see me. I suffered over it before, but now I try to be happy.

“I have learned that I have to live with what is left, feeling grateful, being positive, always working, always dancing, being with my family, always trying to be happy.”

May did not mention which type of surgery she underwent or whether she is considering legal action against the surgeon involved.
