These bloody images show the injuries sustained by a helpless pooch after a man allegedly had sex with it in broad daylight on a busy shopping street.

The shocking incident took place in the centre of the city of Bariloche in the province of Rio Negro in western Argentina and the suspect has not been named but is reportedly a homeless man known as ‘El Paraguayo’ (The Paraguayan) to locals.

Local media report onlookers spotted the homeless man having sex with one of the dogs who often accompany him as he walks around the city.

The onlookers managed to intervene and stop the act before taking the injured dog to a local veterinary clinic, Veterinaria Percario, where it received treatment which included some stitches.

Images show the dog bleeding around its anus, with blood appearing to have been splatted on the wall and ground around it.

The perpetrator was reported to the Prosecutor’s Office and reports state that locals tried to apprehend him the following day when they spotted him in the street but he fled before the authorities arrived.

He was eventually apprehended in the same spot later in the day by the police, who forced him into an ambulance as he is known to be taking medication for mental health problems, according to reports.

One of the women who helped to break up the crime has appealed on social media for help with the costs of the dog’s treatment, to which several people have responded.

The dog is reported to be recovering well and is currently up for adoption.

Some social media users have alleged that the perpetrator has committed this type of crime before and has gone unpunished. 

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged.
